perception.
is this the only thing that truly matters? if the world is good, life improving for you, the body feeling healthy, the money enough in the bank…is this enough? we live in the filtered vision of our own, matters and emotions fused in through what we see, what we read. how we perceive is everything. in confidence insults bounce off of us, compliments empowering us, no amount of rain or grief can touch us. the options and opportunities are boundless, the women flock and the men stare in envy.
but in doubt, when things are not rosy, the world is scary. shadows take on dark shades in a terrifying manner. no amount of compliments allow us to look the world in the eyes, the foundation is gone. the world is going to shit and nothing will change this. our friends are not there, the insides hurt and the future is bleak.
in the middle, as most of us dwindle, life is a mixed-bag. certain days we are confident, others weak. the days plug on, we move on to the next moments, towards the end of the day. nothing particularly amazing or dramatic happens. its neither interesting or boring.
should we be able to change our perception? do drugs and alcohol do this temporarily? when we exercise, eat-well or meditate are these all efforts to get into the frame of mind where the world is more challenging, exciting and better?
