we are forced into situations we wish we did not have to go. into moments where we are uncomfortable. but we trade them for moments of joy. a constant barter like every other thing in life. awkward moments for the smooth. we are a bartering people, trading this for that while admitting to ourselves that this is part where the payoff must happen. we have to get back to work, pay the piper, deal with this moment that we simply do not want to deal with.

as we go about our days a balance is at the forefront of our minds. just as we stand on two legs and have days filled with dark and light – examples of this dance are all around. our pay off is obvious, god is fair. we reap what we sow. so we tread into moments we might not prefer. we pick up the dung from our animals, we complain about our significant others, moan when we are forced to deal with the tax collector or the leaks. with the good comes the bad. with the pain, comes the pleasure.

and we must go forward. without momentum there is no balance. putting things in place, moving our problems behind us and not looking too much back, we deal and pass the unpleasant. or we get stuck. for our life is not for us to completely decide, just as we do not beat our heart, grow our hair, our problems are not for us to decide where they end. they fester, latch onto us, and are hard to shed. sometimes we simply must learn to live with them, another type of balance in this unusual trade we continue till the end.

life is no more then a dewdrop, balancing on a blade of grass.
