life is hard. then it becomes easy. after that easing it will probably get a bit harder. winters and summers, day and night. these contrast are where we can compare things, how we measure progress and how we get on with getting on. without problems to be solved we will end up making them up. turmoil needs to arise, things need to fall, it provides a chance to rebuild, to re-center and to re-calibrate an engine that is running your life. by breaking things and putting them back together a new bond is formed. similar to tearing a muscle or breaking a bone, these problems create a stronger bond later if and when healed.
problems are easy to find. in a world where everything is falling apart, and growing against one another, life can be improved. i find its best to focus inwardly. i recount a story of a king who first encountered the softness of a rabbit pelt. he summoned his staff and demanded that not only the castle but the whole city he lived in be covered with this soft material. so that he could enjoy the softness he felt when touching the fur wherever he went. confused with this request the answer appeared in an easier way. they made slippers for the king lined with fur, when presented to him the problem was over.
it is in us where it all lies. the good and the bad. and you cannot have one without the other. so take them both, for what they are. fall into melancholy with the idea that when day you will fall out of it. and take joy and happiness as chance encounters that one is lucky to find. but know that these two will fade, like it all does. down a river that only you are in. the current coming and going while the world spins you through the universe on a ride of ups and downs. with this idea i will go fix the leaks in my house, my reading skills in mandarin and what im eating, trying my best to avoid the laziness of flipping through nonsensical videos and the joy of jamming butter cookies into my mouth.
too much of one thing is good for nothing.
