my favorite political commentator has simply dropped out of sight. he had always wanted someone from outside the two parties to come in and shake up the system, then he got who we have today. noticing the political hatred on both sides boiling, he simply stopped discussing it and dropped out. reading a recent story about the Murdoch family, it was interesting to learn that at one time not too long ago if you wanted to air news or discourse on the public airwaves you had to show both sides of the points, you could not stick with one angle or politician, this was there in order to create a discourse and have commentary and have difference of opinions. it was aptly named the fairness doctrine and kept us from the vile two sided discourse that is publicly aired today. we need efforts like this, to balance the sides and have an eventual greyness to exist in the white and black issues we face today. if not the sides will grow further apart and the void left in between will swallow us all.
….are we the ones to mess things up? would the world be perfect, at peace, clean and pleasant if it were not for us? are the problems all our making or are the efforts worth it? the fences we put up and the objects we arrange, does it make any of it better? these questions hit me as i try to reason with our own problems, efforts to make things ‘better’ but ending up having to make a mess in the process. in the times i wish i had left things alone, without muddying the waters. what effort was done pushed it in another direction, all the energy for what? fires burn, the landscape blackened, but in this new life does spring.
