god is fair. a few months ago i made fun of a friend of mine who always told me he was so busy. nodding my head, i would go on about the various reasons for his predicament. bad time management, taking things too seriously, no support staff, no appreciation for time off. then it hit me, like a toothache, out of nowhere, busy came and roosted on my doorstep. not enough time to read my magazines, a walk in the park is where i was flooded with things to do, seemingly from zero to max my days were full of busy work that never seems to end. it is moments like this that i look back and feel that god is fair, bestowing onto us what we had not dealt with in the past. whenever you think the water is calm, a wind comes from nowhere and knocks your ship about.
expectations are full of anticipation and promises, get that lake house or that raise and things will be great. as soon as i have reached this point, then the smooth sailing will begin. it is very much different then this of course. most things can be a bit of a let-down, like the average time in between it all, the world cannot always be high-jumps and great awards. it is full of work, problems are consistent with life, unavoidable, annoying but what makes you realize you are alive. no use in complaining about it, no one has time to break out their violins for you simply run right into your issues, face them and take them head on. solving them will be enjoyable, failing at them will show you how to fight the next one.
should you let others win? if you know you can, is it better to let the other person have a victory if you think they will enjoy it more. if you know the ego is false, and that joy comes from others not from inside, then how could not letting the other side gain a victory not be the correct way. games are so much better when they are close, if you can defeat your opponent then there is no game at all. better to lay down and let them win now and again, then the game begins to be interesting again.
