Everybody wants to see what they’ve never seen…you know what I mean.
To find something else. Another sense, place or feeling. Something other than your current state. For each moment is a snapchat of all of your life summed up, and at times it is a place you want to escape. A life, a system, a world that you want to turn upside down. So one vacations, moves, pivots. They leave their jobs, wives, kids and surroundings and set out to find a place that might better suit them. Along the way they discover that wherever they were before they are back again. We tend to repeat ourselves. Our thoughts, our actions and our habits. We change the surroundings to suit us, and then we end up back where we were.
So in circles we go. Like the solar system around us, we are the world happening to us. And just as the solar system wants to get lost in its ever expansive realms and worlds, so do we. The sun shoots into the sky, we wake from a slumber and do our best to occupy our minds and our time. Knowing that everything that arises will also disappear. So to want a variation from that repetition seems logical. A different take on a rising sun, a new angle to the setting sun. A street we have never walked on, a face we don’t exactly recognize. Something akin to a new start.
But like everything, the ying comes with the yang. As soon as your gone you start to miss the place you left, the person you abandoned, the thing you just walked away from. the adage of a greener grass rings true. Its part of the shades that form the rings of the trees, the layers in the sands below us. Its the weather changing, the pain that comes with pleasure. the perspective you were looking to find as you chase your shadow from here to there.
