a great city is built.

its now. get to the gym, eat well and tell yourself that you are doing fine. smile at others and watch them smile back. compliment a stranger. call your mom. get off your ass and organise your day, your closet or your appearance.

or dont.

if you doubt these moments, remember when you were hurt, or sick, and how great it would be to be able to simply walk around and feel normal. those moments are the ones to reflect back too. over and over again, we are lucky and things are not all that bad. this might be a bit opposite of the end of the world dialogue i was waxing on about a few days ago, but so is the ebb and flow of it all. as alan watts liked to say, we are the whole universe, dying and being born day after day. Or to be specific:

“We do not “come into” this world; we come out of it, as leaves from a tree. As the ocean “waves,” the universe “peoples.” Every individual is an expression of the whole realm of nature, a unique action of the total universe.”

some things can be ignored. those other people and their lives, things that you could not go back and change, what you feel from time to time in the back of your mind. others must be taken care of. your health, the way you treat others and the habits that you end up forming. your feelings and emotions will define your day. go into the day expecting it to go to shit, and marvel when it does not, but also learn to ride the down side. if one can enjoy both sides of the mountain, the conquest and the loss, then life is close to perfect. enjoy the gathering, the hunting and the consumption. enjoy the fullness, the expulsion and the hunt again. over and over again. rinse, wash, repeat.
