from afar, things look appealing. the others look happy, the jobs better, the weather…crisper. i think about the future and imagine a new administration, building a new house somewhere and convening with my friends and family in fun and games at their dinner tables. now, not so. in clearness things are not bad, but not what they could be. tomorrow.

“Isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?”

all around me are those looking towards tomorrow. working for a dream, a time when they can kick up their feet and marvel at their hard work. the weekend is around the corner, if i could just get that project, write that book, get into that college, achieve a great score, solve this problem then it will all be alright. we tend to overlook the fact that the game of achieving these milestones, getting to the other side, was what it was about all along.

we think not much about when these moments happen. like eating a cookie, cleaning the house, closing a job. for things move along, other problems arise and new challenges await. we are playing games over and over, chasing our tale until we run out of steam or catch it and simply let it go again. rinse, wash, repeat. tomorrow is the moment beyond our now, where all of our dreams await, our money spent, our time lies. just right there.
