at some point, you have to stop what you are doing and ask yourself what is the point. rhythms, habits and repetition can be comfortable but they will not produce growth unless our purpose is simply to build larger mounds or deeper holes. when your belly is full, when you have reached a certain accumulation of stuff, pause. be mindful of where and what you are, and ask yourself if you want to go further. do not simply wake up and repeat what went on the other day. change the music, the story and the scenery.  if you choose to go on, then the next day you simply can. if you do not stop to think this question over, you will never get that time back to reflect.
another thing is to work on other habits. and then break them. stop listening to the news if you are not getting anything productive out of it. if your friends do not make you laugh, support you when you need them or offer some other positive support, change them. if you wake up next day to a spouse you do not love, who does not love you….
on this note, word differently. If you have always taken it easy, put in some extra hours. if you have worked hard your whole life, then take some time off. pushing too hard in one direction will not get you anywhere, but looking in another direction will at least change your perspective. stop reading the news, meditate, feel empathy for the world around you. each day is a lifetime, do not waste it with excuses and procrastination. change the rhythm of your life, it will take more then simply a thought to have your perspective acquiesce to a new vision and perspective.
