there is some strange infatuation the internet has with dance crazes, and i think i have caught the sickness. i remember the huge attraction that it began, strangely enough, when a friend told me to watch a video link they had created for a spanish song called panama. i have narrowed down my personal favorite by focusing on asia where it truly took to the internet:
this by far will not be the last of the dance crazes on the net. and it was not the first, remember this one: harlem shake—it was a strange one but it caught on fire. proof that all we want to do is play. i think this is what we are perfecting as a society, after the agriculture and industrial revolutions, it is our revolution of making nonsense serious.
another one of my favorite comes a bit later in this katy perry video. It is the backpack boy, something hypnotic about the confidence and the stone faced boy in all the excessive katy perry get ups and transvestites all around. showing that in order to see simplicity at its best, you must have it in a very complex situation. i think she nails the performance, proving that she is an amazing artist and singer who simply wants to create fun, well i thought all this until i saw the actual video she created for the song, a bit of nonsense but an attempt none the less. any ways, watch the back pack boy here:
