there are moments where the awkwardness of it all takes over. the silence last a bit too long, the uncomfortable time when you must look away or down to avoid the reality of the whole situation. worse then fear, those seconds have a  lingering affect in the mind, a reminder to avoid them in the future. the defence mechanism that makes us a social animal, reminding us not venture there again. off colour jokes, mixed messages, failed attempts at anything, perceived in groups make the matter amplified, mixed feelings of angst and discomfort set in for all. like a car wreck, your eyes are glued to the situation happy that it is not your faux pas that came out and made others look. it is these gaffes though that the ordinary steps out and others look on with admiration. you can see this in our current president, who the media immortalises daily in its coverage of. its the comic genius of louis c.k. and the backlash he must endure as he creates dialogue that others find uncomfortable. in our modern day moment to make everything palatable we are forgetting the things that make us laugh and grow into what we have today. its hard to have the current social gaffe as our spokesman, but at the same time it is providing a reference point to allow the future people to fail in grace.
